Position Overview:

This position is ideal for a seasoned Senior Survey Technician who has worked closely with a Crew Chief and is ready to take the next step into a leadership role. If you have developed strong technical skills in operating total stations, GPS equipment, and data collectors and are eager to lead a team while gaining more responsibility in survey coordination, this role offers the perfect growth opportunity.

This role is also well-suited for a current Party Crew Chief who is looking for a company that values entrepreneurial thinking and cross-functional collaboration. If you want to gain broader exposure to project management, engineering coordination, and cutting-edge surveying technologies, this position will provide the opportunity to make a greater impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct construction layout, ALTA surveys, topographic, boundary, and as-built surveys.
  • Lead and supervise a field survey crew.
  • Operate and maintain surveying equipment, including Trimble GPS and robotics.
  • Accurately record and document survey data.
  • Interpret and review survey data to produce detailed reports and drawings.
  • Coordinate with project managers and engineers to meet survey needs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies.
  • Train and mentor junior crew members.
  • Stay updated with the latest surveying technologies and methodologies.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in surveying or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of land surveying experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proficiency in using total stations, GPS equipment, and data collectors.
  • Strong understanding of survey principles and practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and legal descriptions.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various project sites.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to read and interpret survey notes, maps, and construction plans.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform physical activities such as bending, twisting, squatting, lifting, and moving objects of up to 50 pounds across various terrains.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with OSHA safety standards and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) certification.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and other surveying software.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal surveying regulations.
