Position Overview
We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Land Survey Crew Chief to lead field operations for construction layout, ALTA, boundary, and topographic surveys. You’ll be responsible for supervising survey crews, operating Trimble GPS and robotic total stations, and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of fieldwork.
This role is ideal for a Senior Survey Technician or Assistant Crew Chief ready to step into a leadership role, or a current Crew Chief seeking a more entrepreneurial and dynamic environment. You’ll have the opportunity to lead a variety of projects, mentor junior staff, and collaborate closely with project managers and engineers.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and conduct fieldwork for boundary, topographic, ALTA, as-built, and construction layout surveys
- Supervise, train, and mentor field crew members
- Operate and maintain Trimble GPS and robotic total station equipment
- Ensure accuracy in data collection, field notes, and measurements
- Interpret and execute survey instructions from project managers and engineers
- Coordinate field activities and communicate project needs with the office team
- Follow all safety policies and procedures on-site
- Assist with process improvements and implement new survey technologies
- Represent CAGE professionally on job sites and with clients
What You Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree in Surveying or related field preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of land surveying experience, with at least 2 in a leadership/supervisory role
- Proficient with GPS, robotic total stations, and data collectors
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, survey notes, and construction drawings
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various outdoor conditions
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and survey software (preferred)

Rewarding Compensation
- Compensation: $32-$42/hr
- The hourly range provided is a general guideline. Final compensation will be based on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, and overall alignment with the role and company needs.
